NotesThe Vapour out of Space is an interstellar predator. Normally found among the protein rich gas clouds of distant nebulae, these creatures sometimes attach themselves to interstellar craft, comets or meteors, before being pulled into the gravity field of a planet. Normally when this happens, the creatures are ravenously hungry, and immediately set out to consume whatever life-forms they can come into contact with. Vapours normally anchor themselves to an object before being pulled into the Earth's gravity well, and can usually be found near the site of a meteor impact or satellite crash.Vapours are not designed to function within a gravity field, and the pain they feel when confined to Earth makes them highly aggressive and dangerously mean. Though intelligent, the creatures are far too alien to communicate with, and it is doubtful they even recognise humanity as an intelligent species. AbilitiesVapours are exceptionally dangerous and powerful creatures, and are not to be under-estimated. Though they exist in space and are unaffected by radiation, the filtering effect of our atmosphere renders sunlight unpalatable to them, and so Vapours are primarily nocturnal. They do not, howver, take damage from sunlight, and are quite capable of activity during the sunniest of days - they just prefer the dark. Little in known about their full capabilities, but in the only recorded encounter to date, the creature displayed some kind of mind control, as well as the power to drain the life-energy of living beings on contact.Vapours are normally invisible, but show up on infra-red and ultra-violet as large, amorphous blobs, similar in shape and structure to deep sea jellyfish. When attacking, a vapour will become visible, pulsing with colours as it drains the life from its victim. TerminationAs intangible clouds of sentient gas and energy, Vapours are immune to damage from almost all terrestrial weapons. However, they are highly susceptible to magnetic fields, and so far the only way that has been found to neutralise them is to lure them inside a powerful electro-magnet. Vapours will avoid sources of electro-magnetism, such as electrical substations, transformers, and generators, but are drawn towards lesser sources, such as the bio-electrical field of a human being. |
Once a vapour has spawned, it begins to accumulate energy in order to
leave the Earth. It does this by taking approximately fifty to sixty victims
and storing their power. Once the power has been collected, the vapour
remains dormant until the next full moon, whereupon it uses the energy
and the moon's gravity to leap out of the Earth's gravity well.
New Discipline: LeechDistortive (EWS+STA)/3Cost: 2 WPR per use EWS: 135 Range: Touch Area: 1 being A more powerful form of Evil Eye, Leech allows a creature to literally drain the life from a target by touch. To use this ability, the creature makes an opposed check against the target's Current Willpower Score, with the result level defining the amount of Stamina and Willpower drained from the target. L=1D10 STA + 1D10 WPR
Once the creature has consumed a character's Current Willpower and/or Stamina, unless driven off it will begin to consume the character's PERMANENT WPR and STA. Permanent stats reduced in this way will not regenerate, and must be bought back with CIP's. The cost to use this power is 2 WPR per use. However, the creature may use the stolen WPR to fuel its own powers, including Leech. |
