NotesThese undead beasts resemble massive (typically 6 feet tall and around 200 lbs) Great Danes that have been skinned alive, and are frequently kept by vampires and other creatures of the Unknown as pets and guards. Though extremely intelligent, Gorehounds are fanatically loyal to their masters and nurse a passionate hatred of their master's enemies. Carnivorous in nature, Gorehounds display a marked preference for human flesh, a taste that is frequently encouraged by their masters.Gorehounds are never seen in the wild, and some SAVE specialists take this to mean that these creatures are magically manufactured in some way, though as yet no corroborating evidence has been recorded. AbilitiesGorehounds display little power in the Way, except for their unnatural tracking ability and the power to cause a victim to be rooted to the spot with their gaze. The paws of a Gorehound are elongated, and allow for the grasping of objects and simple manipulative tasks, such as opening doors.TerminationGorehounds share the vampires vulnerability to sunlight, and though they cannot be killed by mortal weapons, they can be hurt. Traditional methods for the elimination of Gorehounds include pinning them in the open using an iron stake, and keeping them immobile until they can be seared to death by the rays of the sun. |
