Carrefour was a member of a Voodoo cult, and Collins and his wife were killed by a wasting disease because he took a picture of a Voodoo ceremony and refused to return it. There is evidence that Collins owed his vast wealth to a pact made with Belial in his youth.
Connors, James: A NASA scientist and SAVE envoy, who tracked the second Xenotech pod to the Isle Conte Mana, and passed the information on to the Skeleton Crew.
Isle Conte Mana: A small island in the Carribean and the site of the second Xenotech landing. Death Weavers: Also known as Atam, these are giant extra-dimensional spiders with death's heads on their abdomens. They are highly intelligent, and very skilled in sorcery. They can be killed with normal weapons, but often have magical shields. Their magic can be very dangerous. It was later discovered by Karl D'Arveau that these are in fact only the females of the Atam species. The males are incapable of using magic and so have developed sophisticated nanotechnology instead, which is disregarded by the females. It is likely that the Atam are a dying species, as a war is currently raging between the two sides.

Dillon, John: A former member of the Skeleton Crew, Dillon was recruited shortly after a car crash awakened his latent psychic abilities. While possessing the body of his past self Joseph Dillesbury, his mind was destroyed, leaving his true body catatonic. When SAVE psychics tried to revive him, they discovered that he was in fact a Ssasskad agent, a hunter "programmed" to believe it was a human. The car crash that had awakened his psychic powers had damaged the Ssasskad peronality, rendering it comatose, while the false human personality took over. The probes awoke the Ssasskad and it awoke, determined to complete it's mission and destroy SAVE. The creature raided SAVE's data archive, killed Dillon's family and attempted to make it's way to a rendevous with others of it's kind. After an epic chase across land and sea, he was finally destroyed by the Crew.

Though it was thought that the Crew had fought him several times, it appears now that they have met the true Dracula only once. Previous battles now seem to have been with false Draculas, created and hypnotically conditioned by the real one to smoke out potential enemies and sow confusion.
Draggen, Professor: The last member of the crew of Empire Tech Research Rig Four. Died on the rig.
Dragosani, Boris: A Russian member of Elvira Bella's Cult and recipient of the super soldier formula. Was killed by Beregor in Russia.

It is thought that Elmerak may be yet another incarnation of the Red King, and is linked to the enchanted blade in which resides the spirit of the God of the Razor.
Empire Tech: A front for the Ssasskad infiltration of Earth, Empire Tech is the multinational company at the centre of a web of companies which, when examined, seems to encompass almost half of the world's sizeable companies. Gargoyles: Silicon based creatures from the world of Xarandar, gargoyles are extremely tough, but can be destroyed by normal weaponry. They may, or may not have wings, and come in many different sizes and shapes. Their low intelligence and susceptability to magic mean they are often exploited by unscrupulous magicians. A gargoyle lord is very tough, and very difficult to kill.
Garrick, Anthony: Devised a plan for "getting even" after the collapse of his media company, by binding demons into videotapes of cartoons. The plan was stopped by the Skeleton Crew, but only just.
Garside, Anthony: A former SAVE envoy and government employee, Anthony coordinated Rod Usher's "loans" of envoys to intelligence services. He was killed by a "Tall Man" to protect the secret of Zeal and Hexton. ?
Gates, Peter: The assistant to the press agent for "God's Lost Children".
Genomorph: A creature infected with the Phoenix Structure. Such creatures are able to consciously alter their physical and cellular structure, so that they are immune to almost any form of physical attack. The Genomorph is controlled by the latent intelligence of the virus, and not the host's original mind. The only known ways to destroy a Genomorph are to destroy all of its cells at once, or to attack the controlling intelligence.
Ghost Dancer: The ghost dancer lives in the lands beyond dream. She takes control of people's dream selves, and forces them to perform in the "Theatre of the Macabre". Mike Aldridge and David Case managed to free their own dream-selves and that of "Walks Alone", an aboriginal shaman, from her.

Eli was with the Skeleton Crew in Terraphur, and against Dracula. Now a member of the new Skeleton Crew, Eli is afflicted by an unusual transformation. At night he reverts to the age he was when he was bitten by Dracula. Though he was eventually cured, Eli still retains heightened strength and senses, as well as a craving need for blood which he constantly fights.
Greater Zombie Master: A headless and handless creature, which can only be destroyed by the destruction of its head and hands, which are therefore kept hidden. The Skeleton Crew has destroyed one of these creatures in DeWitt in America. The creature had converted all of DeWitt's inhabitants into animated dead, except one young woman, Kate Mattingley who later joined the Crew.
Green, James: Former associate of the Skeleton Crew, went insane in November 1987 and later died.
Griffin, Professor Leonard: A professor at the Roswell Study Institute in Oxford, Griffin gave the Skeleton Crew the information they needed about Hell's Gate, but was seriously injured by an attack on the institute. He was later killed when he travelled to a (fortunately alternate) future with the Skeleton Crew after a teleport escape from Tech Tower went wrong.
Grainger, Peter: A member of Ashley and Elizabeth Oakston's former Coven. Died in a "gas explosion" as the Crew began their investigation into the deaths of the members of that coven.
Grover, Andrew: Former policeman and Shillingham survivor, later the head of Karl D'arveau's security firm, Grover had standing instructions to pass any particularly unusual cases on to the reformed Skeleton Crew. Despite a long standing policy of "not wanting to know the wierd stuff", Grover has recently formally joined SAVE as the staff adminstrator of the London Chapterhouse. Though somewhat gruff, he is utterly devoted to Kristy Warwick.?
Grover, Sergeant: A sergeant in Shillingham's police force, Grover was killed while buying time for the last few survivors of the village to escape. He was shot by Mike Aldridge after Zombies had begun eating him alive. This was later discovered to have taken place in a parallel universe, as a prelude to the "time war" waged by Elmerak.
Hall, Alex: A SAVE envoy, killed by Elvira Bella while on loan to the intelligence services.

Harker, Mina: A vampiress, created by Dracula in the 1890s.
Hayward, Rachel: A friend of Karen Williams, Rachel became an active and uncontrolled psionic through drugs supplied indirectly by Empire Tech. She was killed when the Devouring God was destroyed.
Hell's Gate: A former ring of standing stones near Lesser Mallingsport, Hell's Gate is a pinhole in reality through which the Dark could be allowed into this world once again. The last known attempt was made by Elvira Bella, and stopped by Mike Aldridge, Jason Black, and Professor McGee. The Dark was summoned, but the Crew's intervention interrupted the ritual, and this also allowed the Light to reach this world. It is hoped that the resulting explosion sealed the pinhole permanently.
Hodgekiss, Helen: Winston Collins' sister-in-law, was killed by a "freak accident" while the Skeleton Crew were investigating Winston Collins' death.
Holland, Mark: The bass player for "God's Lost Children".
Holloway, "Spider": Cathy Hammond's boyfriend, not implicated in her murder. His band has played gigs at the Succubus Club.

Horton, Dr: Winston Collins' doctor in Dallas.
Howlers: Misshapen humanoid creatures, the Howlers are servants of the Demon Shabbach. The scream of a Howler can open gateways between the worlds, and is even capable of banishing those nearby to Hell. Howlers can be killed with normal weapons, though they are very tough.
Hoxton: A small village where the survivors of Zeal gathered. The "Tall Men" attacked the Skeleton Crew there, but the Crew managed to kill them.

Created by scientists working for Armand Tesla. The last known samples of the HK virus in the possession of SAVE and were presumed destroyed with SAVE Central.
Indalo: The symbol of SAVE, the indalo is intended to signify "Man reaching out to the Universe". Linked to a holy spring beneath SAVE Central, the Indalos served to provide a measure of protection from the Dark, but with the destruction of the spring this ability has ceased. Though some modern SAVE envoys prefer the more discrete "S" symbol, many still wear the indalo in rememberance of those who went before.
Isle'O'Fun: An island on Cabel Lake near Railing, Illinois. The Isle'O'Fun was once the most haunted place on Earth, but after the ghosts were laid to rest by Mike Aldridge and Professor McGee, Mike bought the island and set up a SAVE base there, including the main R&D research labs. The SAVE base was destroyed at around the same time as SAVE Central was destroyed.
Jack Flash: Jonathan Flashman, assistant to the great inventor Nikolai Tesla, was killed in a lab accident and his death hushed up. Flashman was reborn as Jack Flash, an electrical lifeform and champion of the Earth's elemental forces, intended to stand against Marak. Embittered by the circumstances of his death, he turned his back on the task, and was replaced by Patrick O'Brien. When he became aware of the exitance of a rival, the now insane Flash used his considerable powers to try to destroy the Crew at every turn. Eventually the Skeleton Crew destroyed his connection to this reality, a shrivelled husk in an electric chair, concealed in Tesla's hidden laboratory at the heart of WorldNet Headquarters.
Jammer, Jackson: A vampire and rock guitarist, Jammer was first destroyed by the Skeleton Crew in March 1988, when he was Van Helsing's lead guitarist. He later returned as the Bloodlords' special guest during the preparations for the Bend Sinister.

Key of Shomech: Made from the skull and spine of a man, the Key of Shomech has the power to imprison or release Marak from his prison under Shomech. In addition, it gives the holder some of the power of the creatures held in the prison. Though it was held by the vampire Dracula, in an attempt to prevent it from being used to destroy the world, it is now inside the prison itself, where its powers are inoperative. However, rumours persist of a second key.

Originally a member of the "Black Brotherhood" in San Francisco, Mandrax later became infamous as the serial killer, the "Fog City Satan" while attempting to rouse the devil Belial from his sleep. Escaping death at the hands of belial, he later obtained immortality by draining it from an extradimensional watchdog. Last seen under attack by newly awakened martians, Mandrax is bound to be back.
Maples, Charles: A fireman in San Francisco, at the time of the Nestor cult.
Marak: Once known as the angel Iaphon, Marak was driven insane by an encounter at the edge of reality. Declaring himself a god, he became the heart of the most evil cult on Earth, making his home in the depraved ancient city of Shomech. When the heavenly host caught up with him, the resulting battle destroyed the city, fusing the buildings and occupants into glass. Put on trial by heaven, the angels found themselves unable to find Marak guilty, by reason of his insanity. Unable to cure him, they instead opted to imprison him forever. Dragging a black hole from the skies, they imprisoned him within it, wrapped it in a force shield and buried it beneath the earth. Though he was temporarily released by his cult during the Ares Incident, Marak was re-imprisoned by the Crew through the sacrifice of Patrick O'Brien, who is forever imprisoned with him.

She reappeared months later, living as a bag-lady in London while suffering from amnesia, and joined Karl D'arveau's group of investigators. During later months, Kate underwent a number of transformations in times of stress, changing into something resembling a Ssasskad hunter. When another Kate later turned up and was killed, it was revealed that it had been a Ssasskad spy inhabiting Kate's original body. The body Katewas now inhabiting actually belonged to the Ssasskad, the result of a psychic interrogation gone horribly wrong. Kate was active until late 1992, when she went home to America with her dog Scheaffer, intending to persue her environmental concerns and "save the world in another way". Became a powerful magician and authority on the occult through the intervention of his childhod guardian angel, a masked being known as Mr Nobody. During a psychic trip into the past, McGee's soul was divided into good and evil halves, with the evil half returning to the present. Over the next few weeks, the evil McGee made plans to use the Crew as part of a plot to use the key of Shomech to dominate the Earth and succeeded in murdering his entire family with the Crew present, while remaining unsuspected. At the climax of the battle against Marak, the evil McGee used his sorcery to defeat the Crew and take the key for himself. He was eventually defeated by the intervention of Mr Nobody, who revealed himself to be the good half of McGee's soul. With his evil half defeated, McGee rejoined the Crew and remained active until the destruction of SAVE. Current status is unknown.
McGee, Emily: Professor McGee's mother, murdered by the evil Professor in order to inherit her wealth.

Oakston, Ashley: An active Member of the Skeleton Crew from November 1987 to February 1988, Ashley left the Crew to track down his sister Elizabeth who had gone missing. He was captured by the Ssasskad and used as a component of a machine which would have had almost godlike power. The Crew destroyed the machine in late 1988, killing Ashley.
Oakston, Elizabeth: Ashley's sister, Elizabeth was captured by the Ssasskad and was used to control of their psionic weapon. Unlike Ashley, she survived the destruction of the first machine, kept alive by Ssasskad technology, and was used in a second orbital device. An intervention by Kane Roberts and Vince Shaw brought Elizabeth to her senses, and she targeted the Ssasskad home base in Nepal, rather than London. Elizabeth is now presumed to be dead.
Omega Electronics: A large electronics company, which is a fifth-generation subsidiary of Empire Tech. Appears to be directly controlled by Ssasskad, and was responsible for the "Windmill Project" among others.
Omega Project: A sequel to the Windmill Project, with similar intent. This project was draining aggression from the minds of criminals and using it to power another psionic weapon. Kane was the preferred choice for the fine control, but after he escaped Elizabeth Oakston was used. The project ended in failure after Kane and Vince woke Elizabeth up, and she fired at the Ssasskad home base in Nepal, killing herself.

Phoenix Structure: An intelligent virus which invades and takes over its host, creating a Genomorph.
Powered Armour: Apparently used by both Russian and American departments, as well as the Carousel, power armour is designed to enhance the strength and maneuverability of the wearer, as well as to protect him. It doesn't stand up well to an EMP grenade though.
Prince, David: Another member of Ashley and Elizabeth Oakston's coven, was lasered down in broad daylight by Ssasskad agents.
Professor, Alternate: The Professor David McGhee's of an alternate world, the Professor has managed to save a few people in a world dominated by the Dark. To do this, he has been forced to leave them as the Vampire's prey in Birmingham, and the guilt he feels has driven him mad. He attempted to become the god of a new universe by being at center of reality's collapse, an attempt which failed.
Professor, Evil: A machine invented by Baron Ausbach was tried out on Professor Daniel Mackie. Because there were two souls in Mackie's body, the machine had the effect of separating his good and evil sides into separate entities, rather than simply turning him evil. The evil side was sent back to the 1980s with the Skeleton Crew, while the good side remained in the 1890s. As time progressed, the good part of the Professor freed Jason from Marak's prison, and taught his younger self magic. Finally, the Professor's evil side was sealed into Marak's prison.
Psi Division: The most secret division of the Carousel. A front by the Ssasskad to identify human telepaths for later use. It is suspected that Psi Division are responsible for the blood tests used in most British hospitals, designed to detect active psi's.

After encountering Kane and Vince, he was swept to an alternate Earth where he encountered the Crew during Elmerak's "Time War". He was later encountered by the reformed Crew in neolithic Europe, where he explained that he had been recruited by the "Time Corps", and was now stranded after a time travel accident. Last seen being rescued by Corps agents from the 1890's after being severely injured, it is unknown whether Quin is alive or dead.
Rampton: A prison for the criminally insane on the Isle of Wight, where some Empire Tech operation has been carried out. This was probably the same second attempt at the Omega Project that Kane Roberts stopped from the ssasskad home base in Nepal.

Became an envoy in August 1987, and after a failed mission in January 1988 was assigned to the Skeleton Crew to replace Simon Williams. He became a hunted fugitive, and has disappeared from the face of the Earth.
Robuck, Karl: Kane Robert's 1890s incarnation.

Ross, Elaine: One of the SAVE investigators who compiled the report on Zeal in 1983.
Saint Arbogast's Hospital, NYC: The hospital where Karen gave birth to Mike's son; the Genomorph.
Samedi, Baron: Probably the best-known and certainly one of the most dangerous Voodoo gods, Samedi is the lord of the Graveyard. His manifestation can be banished by stabbing him in the heart with a silver knife which has a raven's feather bound to it with leather. This is more difficult than it seems, as Samedi keeps his heart hidden; it is not in his body.
Samsonville: Landing site for the first of the Xenotech eggs, the entire town was depopulated by the effects of the egg's landing. The Crew found the egg, but were arrested by the Australian military and taken to a top secret research centre, where the egg was to be examined.
SAVE: The "Societas Albae Viae Eternitata", the "Eternal Society of the White Way", SAVE was an active force in investigating the Unknown and combatting the Dark from the 19th Century up to its destruction in 1991. Little is known about the destruction of SAVE central, but what is known suggests that angels may have been the agents of the destruction. The organisation has recently been reborn and is now known as "Societas Argenti Viae Eternitata", or the "Eternal Society of the Silver Way". The change is meant to represent the society's adherence to a middle path for mankind, independant of Heaven or Hell.
Sawyer, Jean: A captain in the NYPD, surviving SAVE envoy, and an old flame of Alex Summers. Jean has given birth to Alex's child, who gives every appearance of being a very unusual young girl. Recently it was discovered that the conception took place after Alex was abducted by aliens and presumably killed. Who the child's real father is remains a mystery for now.
Sawyer, John: Jean's father, John was a cop who vanished while investigating the activities of a cult many years ago. He was found suspended in a crystalline capsule in the sewers of New York while the Skeleton Crew fought the Genomorph for the second time. Though he is many years out of date, his recovery and assimilation into the modern world are progressing well, mainly through the diligent attentionof his daughter Jean.
Scarab: Sometimes the means of enforcing a mummy's curse, a magical scarab can turn into the inect it resembles, killing with a lethal sting. The reformed Skeleton Crew encountered one in the 1890s.
Scorpio: The ESA's first shuttle. While on a mission to recover a malfunctioning communications satellite, the shuttle encountered a gaseous lifeform in space and was infected. The vessel crashlanded in Kansas, where the voracious lifeform was destroyed by the Crew.

Shleiss, Dr William: A doctor involved in an Omega Electronics project at Dartmoor prison which was capable of removing all violence from a criminal.
Shillingham: A tiny village where the Skeleton Crew fought an otherworldly supernatural predator, which could only be killed by an act of sacrifce, and had been pinned for centuries by an iron spike beneath an ancient gibbet. The predator constructed a physical body from corpses stolen from the local graveyard and gifted certain tainted souls with limited magical powers. The Skeleton Crew were able to destroy the creature, but only Kirsty Warwick and a group of children survived. It was later discovered that these events took place in a parallel reality, as a prelude to Elemrak's "time war". It is known that similar events occurred in this reality, the only major difference being the survival of Andrew Grover.
Shomech: The ancient city of the worshippers of Marak lies beneath the deserts of Syria, near Damascus. In the centre of the city, beneath the temple, lies Marak's prison, which can only be opened by the Key of Shomech.
Skeleton Crew: A top team of survivors, the Skeleton Crew were chosen from the fringes of society, from criminals, loners and the shunned. Originally considered expendable, they were regularly sent on missions where other envoys had failed, or where success was almost impossible. The events of their missions drew them together as a team, forging unbreakable bonds and giving them a new purpose in life. The relatively low casualty rate of the Crew speaks highly for their skill and determination. Most of the Crew are assumed to have been killed when SAVE was destroyed, but given the Crew's ability to survive against insane odds, such assumptions may be premature. The original crew consisted of James Green, Johnny Wczeinski, Mike Aldridge, Ashley Oakston, Patrick O'Brien, Christaan Oberon Zwart, Professor David McGee and Jason Black. Later members included Kate Mattingly, John Dillon, Simon Williams and Kane Roberts. Since the rebirth of SAVE, a new Skeleton Crew has been created, as a symbol of hope to the new organisation. To date, this team consists of Mike Aldridge, Eli Graham, Jan Kronos, Jenn ????, Danielle???? and Jade East. Though Karl D'Arveau adventured against the Dark many times, he was never formally a member of SAVE and thus never joined the Skeleton Crew. He is however, considered an honourary member.
Skeletons: Animated skeletons which will attack with bony claws. The only way to kill a skeleton is to shatter their sternum, thus dispersing the life force which animates them.
Slade: The Antichrist, in the person of the ruler of the apocalyptic world of a possible future. Slade was the final incarnation of this demonic creature, which had been bron on Earth during the time of Christ and survived by stealing body after body. This creature was a living portal to Hell, allowing infernal powers access to Earth while Heaven was denied access by the power of the Brand of Marak. On December 25th, 1996, the Earth's reserve of unborn souls would be exhausted, and the first child without a soul would be born. The Antichrist's plan was to inhabit that body and fully incarnate on Earth for the first time ???.Mike and Dave/Jade, with Jason's help, managed to lift the Brand of Marak in 1996, which prevented Slade from being able to take possession of a soulless body. Slade hmself was wiped from existance by the rewriting of history. It should be noted however that the Antichrist must still be alive, somehwere in our world, as it was reve
Slasher: A murderer who ritually disembowelled his victims. The Slasher was finally discovered to be a demon, who could only move on to a witness to one of its murders. The ssasskad have an insect-like social system, with queens for each "nest" ruling over "drones", "warriors", and "hunters". Ssasskad are extremely hard to kill, but all except the hunters are very vulnerable to electric shock or EMP. The ssasskad are using their control over Empire Tech to infiltrate Earth's government, law enforcement, industry, and finance, presumably with the objective of gaining control of all possible sources of opposition to them. It isn't clear why they are being so cautious, given their high technology level, but perhaps there is another secret group that they fear. At one time the ssasskad wanted Mike Aldridge's body (alive or dead) to study, as it was all that remained of the Genomorph. This no longer seems to be the case, although the ssasskad do seem to regard Mike as a deadly foe.
Stallmagne: One of the last of the Lemurian race, Stallmagne was an ally of the Crew for some time. Finally vanished to another planet after an encounter with Kane and Vince on Zaranda. Sometimes known as "Paul Destraeker".
Strigon: Author of the "Malleficium Demonicus", a well-known but rare occult text. Strigon was one of the last two surviving Lemurians, a very powerful sorcerer who had turned to the Dark. He was finally defeated by the Crew when they turned his own demons against him. He was resurrected by his daughter Elvira Bella, but after a taste of Hell has turned away from the Darkness, and is now leading a quiet life in retirement. Is now almost a friend of Mike Aldridge.

Usherland: The family home of the Ushers. The Skeleton Crew fought the Dark there as it was revealed that the Usher family had been following the directions of "the Landlord", a supernatural being who guided the family by possessing its current head. Williams, Simon: Karen's brother was a telepath, who was drafted into the Skeleton Crew after Mike's death. He was active from February 1988 to his death at the hands of several members of the Crew in March 1988, after being infected by a Loup de Mal. His death destroyed the creature, but left a bitter taste in the mouths of some Envoys.
